🌟Meet Nicola, our Director of People and Culture 🌟

In September 2024 we welcomed Nicola to our team as our new Director of People and Culture. We are delighted to have her on board and cannot wait to see what she brings to the team.

Nicola Purvis is an accomplished HR Director with over 15 years of experience in Human Resources, specialising in cultivating positive workplace cultures and fostering employee engagement. She has a passion for fostering inclusive workplace cultures and has successfully led initiatives that enhance employee engagement, drive performance, and promote talent development. Nicola believes that a strong organisational culture is the foundation for business success and is passionate about creating an environment where everyone feels valued, celebrated and rewarded for their work.

We caught up with her to get to know her better and find out how she's settling in to the new role.

Q. What were you doing before Hutchinson?

I have been extremely blessed throughout my career to work in great companies with great people. Throughout my HR leadership journey, I have worked across manufacturing, professional services and most recently food manufacturing with people are the core of everything we do. In these roles, I was responsible for developing and executing human resource strategies that support the organisation’s goals and objectives and creating a positive working environment for all colleagues across the business.

Q. Why did you choose to join Hutchinson?

Hutchinson’s is a fantastic company to work for. The business is well known for its People First Culture with strong vision and values. These values are very much aligned with my values and ways of working. The People and Culture Director role offers a unique blend of strategic focus, with the ability to foster a positive work environment, and the chance to make a significant impact on both individuals and the organisation as a whole. The focus on people-centred initiatives aligns with a passion for enhancing workplace culture and driving employee success.

Q. What does a typical day in your role look like?

A typical day involves a blend of strategic leadership, problem-solving and employee-focused initiatives. I am very passionate about the employee experience and will always be exploring new creative ways we can celebrate and thank our employees across the business!

Q. What have you enjoyed most from your time at Hutchinson so far?

Easy answer, the people! I am extremely proud to join a business where people are at the core of everything we do.

Q. What are you looking forward to most in the next 12 months at Hutchinson?

I look forward to having the opportunity to drive meaningful change within the organisation across the People Agenda. Growing the talent pipeline for the future and implementing programs that will help employees develop their skills to reach their full potential. I look forward to celebrating individual and team successes and fostering a culture of appreciation and motivation. The chance to make a positive impact on employees' lives and the overall workplace culture will be incredibly rewarding.
